Brown Rat: (Rattus Norvegicus)
Why Control?
Diseases: Weil's disease (leptospirosis) is shed in the rat's urine, Salmonellosis, contamination of food, damage to property; they kill other wildlife, breed and spread rapidly if not controlled.
House Mouse: (Mus Domesticus)
Why Control?
Diseases: Samonellosis (food poisoning) and Lymphocytic choriomeningitis. Contaminating the environment and possibly the food in the area they infest. Damage to lead, plastic, aluminium, and a range of other materials, causing costly repairs and even fires when electrical supplies are damaged.
Treatment:
Poison baiting is usually used for rat and mice treatment as this is more reliable than other methods. Rats and mice may need to feed several times before dying. If they consume enough poison to give them
a lethal dose, on their first feed, they will not suffer any ill effects until several days later. This ensures that they do not become suspicious and associate the bait with illness. A 'complete kill' takes place killing all the rats/mice in the colony depending when the bait is eaten. All activity should stop within 7-14 days. There is a slight risk some may die in places such as under floorboards and although every effort will be made for this not to happen we cannot accept responsibility, and the majority of dead rodents will be removed. Up to three visits may be needed depending on the infestation.
After Treatment:Any recommendations given by the technician should be done as soon as possible to prevent any re-infestation taking hold, all bait will be removed once treatment has finished, and proofing can be done at an extra cost.
